Eating My Words
New Things Tried
by Kelly Thomas on 10/15/15
It has been a long time since I last wrote. Things happen and life goes on. This year I started out working with a friend, Barbara Welsh, who encouraged me to work on my web presence. She helped me and gave me the tools to get going. As you can see I am just getting around to working on that task.
I have tried out a few new flavors, but have not been totally satisfied with the results, so I am still at the drawing board. It was so encouraging in the beginning, mushrooms or ramps. (Ramps are a springtime wild onion like plant that grow here in the mountains.) As time went on however, I was not able to get enough flavor to come through the noodles. You need to have a lovely flavor and an aromatic scent.
I made a search for the ultimate pasta spoon-I have one, but have never been able to replace it. Persistence reigns! I found another spoon-server and decided to pass it on to my customers. I honestly don’t know how anyone lives without this object. It will be included with my newest gift package.
I have made some trips to some of the shops that represent my pasta and I was so impressed. Most are small businesses like my own and their owners have equally as much passion about the work they do and represent. I am also involved in a local cooperative that is just beginning. So.Kno Food Co-op works at providing an outlet for local farmers and artisan food preparers to sell their work and become involved in a community. I will keep you posted.
Finally, there are the local Farmers Markets. I have participated in two-one a week. I have met many new customers and reconnected with the old. It has been a great year so far!
